Halloween: Day #2- Dipped Marsh Mellows

Ghostly Good and Festively Fun Dipped Marsh Mellows!

These little treats will win any kid (ok and adults!) over, and they are just too fun-not to mention surprisingly easy! You'd be shocked what you can do with just some white chocolate and festive sprinkles! I was so excited when Halloween season approached so I could dip up some more delights!

What you will need:
White Chocolate {tip: almond bark is GREAT for dipping, BUT that is all it is good for because it is very waxy. Trying using Ghirredhilli or Nestle-both great taste!}
Festive Multi-pack Sprinkles
Marsh Mellows
Food Coloring {tip: the gel food colors work best for me!}
Lollipop Sticks {tip: lollipop sticks can be found at Hobby Lobby-they are great for one Marsh Mellow}
OR
Thick Skewers {tip: any stick will do that can hold up to three marsh mellows-but sometime those are hard to find-a little trick is getting the long skewers and cutting them in half! Wa La! Now you have twice as many!}

First: Prepare your marsh mellows on the sticks and lay out enough wax or parchment paper.
If you have a chocolate warmer-make
sure you stir almost constantly.
Second: Warm your chocolate! White chocolate is VERY easy to burn. I recommend doing it in the microwave rather than the stove. Start off by doing one minute, mix and then do 20 second intervals-BE CAREFUL, when you think there are chunks, you may have burnt it because it gets lumpy the more you heat it.{tip: it's best to microwave it in a (microwaveable) plastic bowl, one that is deep enough to dip the marsh mellows in and mix with a plastic/rubber spatula or spoon-what are those things called? rubber spatula spoon thing :)} It hardens quickly so while you are dipping you may need to pop it back in the microwave for 10 more seconds.

Third: Dip and Decorate! Set on wax paper and let air dry, no need to refrigerate. {tip: for a perfect dipped marsh mellow purchase a Styrofoam base to simply let them stand up on, leaving them smooth all around!}
I didn't use the icing-but it too would be
great for decorating!

Dipping Techniques
If you feel your chocolate is still too thick but are worried you are going to burn it then simply add a little Crisco and microwave 5-10 seconds more. Dip your marsh mellow into the chocolate, using your spatula to make sure all areas are smothered in chocolate. Next, the most important step, is shaking off the excess chocolate until the marsh mellow is basically smooth all around. Keep in mind, it doesn't matter how perfect it is!

Use your white chocolate as "glue" to put the finishing touches on!

Now for a tasty tip: dip in caramel and then the white chocolate-you won't regret it! ;)
Have fun and enjoy!

These are to darn cute. However, I am so majorally bummed. I had come up with the idea to do just franky ones and just bought all the stuff, this is what I WAS going to show. Now I am bummed and don't know what to do. Darn, great minds think alike! ;) Jen..... TBC..

Oh Jen-if you want to still do them-I totally won't care! I am sure your's will be much cuter-if that is what you are focusing on, ya know? There are so many different ways to make/decorate the franky one's, and I am sure the viewers would love variety! So really-if you don't want to come up with something else (plus you already got the stuff)-please please feel free to do them : )
